Quality Engineer & Supervisor Location: Asheville, NC Reports to: Technical Manager Job Overview: Reporting to the Technical Manager, coworker will work with cross functional teams to lead Quality Technicians, address customer complaint resolution, manage raw material specifications, and support all required compliance initiatives. Main focus of this role is to champion quality initiatives and improve the overall quality systems currently in place. This role plays a significant role in remediation of customer complaint trends and related issues that create opportunities for improvements (CI) throughout the site. Job Dimensions:* Ensure quality systems satisfy and meet at all times all customer specifications, internal and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, FDA)* Champion supplier, internal and customer related quality activities* Engage in supplier, customer and third party visits and audits* Demonstrate quality performance by trending and tracking* Analyze data and present to the site management teams to identify quality improvement projects and focus areas* Reduce internal and external quality issues to meet and exceed targets* Engage in risk assessment process; identification, control, and management utilizing risk assessment tools such as FMEA and HACCP* Support new product and line launches by working with Sales and Marketing, Engineering, and Product Development* Supervise Quality Coordinator and Quality Technicians Principal Accountabilities:* Facilitate CAPA steering committee and lead assigned CAPA and continuous improvement activities* Utilize Six Sigma tools and conduct Kaizen events to create improvement and permanent positive change* Engage personnel in problem solving and risk assessments* Champion, facilitate, and participate in projects as assigned* Ensure best practices are identified and shared among Amcor sites* Identify and communicate effective and efficient risk elimination/mitigation models practiced at Amcor sites Major challenges & complexities:* Ensure quality systems satisfy and meet at all times all customer specifications, internal and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, FDA, GFSI)* Champion supplier, internal and customer related quality activities* Engage in supplier, customer and third party visits and audits* Demonstrate quality performance by trending and tracking* Analyze data and present to the site management teams to identify quality improvement projects and focus areas* Reduce internal quality issues to meet and exceed targets* Engage in risk assessment process; identification, control, and management utilizing risk assessment tools such as FMEA and HACCP* Support new product and line launches by working with Sales and Marketing, Engineering, and Product Development* Ensure continued compliance to certified standards (ISO 13485 and FSSC 22000) to ensure successful audit outcomes* Meet SCAR closure rate of 95% within 30 calendar days* Meet and exceed target of customer credit dollars* Meet Customer Complaint closure rate of 95% within 30 calendar days* Decrease number of customer complaints to meet and exceed current target Relationships:* Establish and maintain sound relationships with Technical Manager, Quality teams and cross functional personnel* Engage with operations, planning, engineering, and IT personnel to identify system and compliance gaps with proposed resolutions* Host customer audits / Conduct supplier audits* Work with quality team and champion creation of effective and sustainable Corrective Actions Qualifications/Requirements Knowledge & Experience:* 7+ years of relevant working experience and/or education in Quality and/or Food Safety* Knowledge of HACCP/FSSC 22000/SQF/BRC/IMS* Knowledge of ISO 13485/9001* Extensive knowledge and hands on experience in implementing and maintaining quality system and food safety system standards* Knowledge of the packaging industry desirable* Knowledge of Quality System Software and Quality Engineering tools* Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Education & Certifications:* University degree in Engineering or science, or demonstrated experience in a Quality and/or Food Safety role* Certified Quality Auditor, Lead Auditor preferred* Six Sigma Black or Green Belt preferred* Certified Quality Engineer through ASQ desirable* Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab) Skills/Abilities/Behaviours:* Proven track record of leading teams to drive improvement* Proven ability to compile, compute, analyze and define data to effectively communicate shifts, trends and cause* Ability to partner with all levels of employees to identify and conduct improvement projects* Ability to use and apply Quality tools to identify / provide remediation action(s) for product failures, problematic areas and other opportunities for improvement* Use problem solving & statistical tools effectively and efficiently* Self motivated, excellent team player and communicator* Follow Amcor policies and procedures at all times with ethical behavior that delights co-workers, customers, suppliers and other interacted parties* Work safely and encourage all employees to work safely as well* Communicate immediately quality issues that bear high risk to the customer and business* Treat all co-workers with respect and integrity, valuing inputs and feedbacks Why work at Amcor?* We value safety, integrity, collaboration, accountability and results and out performance* Amcor is a growing company which means career opportunities both locally and internationally* The environment is better off because of our leadership and products* We offer world class benefits including annual bonus opportunities;
