Title: Assistant Director of Advancement Services Division: University Advancement Classification Title: University Program Specialist Overall Position Competency: Advanced Department: Advancement Services Position Summary: As a member of the Advancement Division's Operations team, this position supports UNC Asheville's fundraising efforts by serving as the Advancement Division and University's resident fundraising database expert, as well as the second-in-command of the Advancement Operations team. The Assistant Director is critical to the University's expertise and services related to fundraising and development. The position's main areas of responsibility are fulfilling data requests from Advancement and across campus, creating solutions for ongoing data needs to enhance fundraising efforts, maintaining the database in support of fundraising data analytics, overseeing gift processing, and providing analysis to fundraisers within the division. This position uses the Advancement database (Raiser's Edge) along with knowledge of the data to produce informational assets that include in-depth analysis, reports, lists, charts, and dashboards that assist stakeholders across the University (Advancement, Athletics, the Chancellor's Office, and others) with engaging donors and raising private funds. The position consults with end-users to assess their ongoing needs, and develops reliable solutions. The position is an active participant in the development of analytics to evaluate Advancement metrics that drive fundraising success. It is critical for the position to communicate about competing priorities, as well as to balance demands for reports against the need for ongoing database maintenance. The position supervises two gift processing/data entry staff members. Position Number: 002074 Months per Year: 12 Months FLSA: Exempt Full-Time/Part-Time/Intermittent: Salary Information: Posting Detail Information Posting Number: S0361 If time limited length of assignment: Not Applicable Minimum Education Experience Skills: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree and/or advanced degree, and at least 3-5 years of Raiser's Edge experience in a higher education setting. Raiser's Edge experience should include database administration, data maintenance, gift processing, and report writing. May also consider experience with similar fundraising software programs. Experience providing detailed analysis to help drive and support fundraising goals. Experience in developing and providing accurate and timely reports to support fundraising operations. The successful candidate will be a proactive, goal-oriented individual with the ability to plan, implement, and monitor projects. Sensitivity to the importance of stewardship and donor relations, and to manage others to do the same. Strong organizational and analytical skills; detail-oriented. Strong verbal and written communication skills; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with donors, prospects, business executives, as well as faculty, administrators, staff, and students. Preferred candidates will be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and possess the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to handle confidential information, maintain and update files with high degree of accuracy. Ability to develop detailed processes to accomplish tasks and monitor adherence to processes. Ability to translate technical information into forms that support the work of frontline fundraisers. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: NC Salary Grade Equivalency: GN12 (For employment/re-employment priority purposes only) Recruitment Range: $55,000-$65,000 Work Schedule and Hours: Normal office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional time on evenings and weekends may be needed to meet the needs of the department.
