Job Description:
--- Ensure that resources are effectively and creatively used for
maximum impact in engaging, inspiring and activating our multiple
audiences inside and outside the Garden
--- Assume overall accountability for delivery of daily operations
safely, timeously, within agreed budgets and to an ever-improving
standard.
--- Study feasibility, plan, project manage and deliver a pipeline
of new projects for MHS, currently including major relaunch of
schools program; garden restoration; flower show relaunch and new
exhibit calendar.
--- Contribute to strategic initiatives as a member of the senior
team and engage both staff and Board Committees in these as
appropriate.
--- Develop operational procedures and standards for all
organizational areas, including recommendation of appropriate
technologies and capital investments
--- Represent and advocate for MHS regionally and nationally in all
operational areas, as a spokesperson, legislatively, and in support
of major fundraising programs.
--- Effectively develop and harness volunteer support across all
functional areas Education and Experience - MHS is looking for a
dynamic leader with a clear history of accomplishment to lead daily
operations and project manage a pipeline of significant new
programs. Candidates will need to provide clear evidence through
specific examples that they meet the criteria set out below. In
addition, this role will require adaptability, tenaciousness and a
comfort with change and development. This role will much more
require a 'start-up' mentality and project management methodology
than 'business as usual'. Commitment to the mission of
transformative change through horticulture, and MHS values must be
demonstrated at interview.Essential Criteria - qualifications,
competencies, skills and experience--- A qualified horticultural,
exhibits, project management or operational specialist with a
relevant degree or equivalent professional competence demonstrated
in a growing public garden or similar organization.
--- Demonstrable staff management and leadership experience with a
focus on clear accountability, personal coaching and professional
development
--- Exceptional written, spoken and public communication skills
--- A track record of successful, timely, on budget and documented
project delivery utilizing a clear project management system
--- Commitment to the vision, values and culture of MHS and
evidence of a direct and collaborative pattern of working
behaviors
--- Creativity in bringing to fruition audience centered
programming at scale within significant constraints.
--- A high rate of ongoing personal and professional learning and

The primary place of work is The Gardens at Elm Bank, Wellesley,
MA.
MHS is happy for this role to include an element of work-from-home.
Most senior staff currently work-from-home one day each week on a
Monday.Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 with growth potential.
