Ensure that students adhere to facility-specific guidelines and policies, as well as NC Board of Nursing pre-licensure, AB Tech College and Nursing department policies.DutiesSupervise first or second-year nursing students in a clinical environment, in a Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, Gerontology, Critical/Acute Care, or long-term care setting; may be inpatient or outpatient. Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the nursing program. Ensure that students adhere to facility-specific guidelines and policies, as well as the NC Board of Nursing pre-licensure, AB Tech Community College, and Nursing department policies. Educator must maintain professional certifications, competency in the area of assigned responsibility and knowledge of best practices; must have current knowledge of nursing practice for the RN and LPN, seek opportunities for professional development, and perform duties as assigned by Department Chairperson, Associate Chairperson, or Clinical Coordinator. These duties may include mandatory orientation sessions on campus, as well as in the clinical setting, as mandated by the clinical agency.Clinical Student Nurse Educator (CSNE) will be evaluated utilizing the National League for Nursing Core Competencies of Nurse Educators (http://www.nln.org/profdev/corecompetencies.pdf).Minimum Requirements1. Hold a current unrestricted license to practice as an RN in NC.2. Hold a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.3. Minimum of two years' patient care experience within the past five years as a registered nurse.4. Current American Heart Association CPR certification for healthcare providers (certifications obtained online are not accepted; copy of certification must be submitted upon hire).Preferred Qualifications1. MSN with concentration in nursing education.2. Clinical teaching experience at the college level.3. Medical-Surgical, Critical/Acute Care, Mental Health, Pediatrics, Gerontology experience.Special Instructions to Applicants1. The NCBON mandates that, within 3 calendar years of employment, the CSNE (adjunct employee) must complete either: 45 hours of CEU's in Nursing Education (must be pre-approved by the NCBON) OR a NCBON approved certificate program (list may be found at: http://www.ncbon.com/myfiles/downloads/programs-faculty-rule-0318a-teaching-learning-requirements.pdf OR 9 semester hours of education coursework (per the NCBON Administrative Rule 21 NCAC 36.0318).3. Course rates may vary. Course payment is contingent upon meeting all scheduled class/lab/clinical hours, and fulfilling the CSNE (adjunct) contract for instructional duties. Example: 1 clinical day/week x 15 weeks $3690/semester; 2 clinical days/week x 15 weeks = $7380/semester. Clinical hours may vary in length per course and per semester.4.
