PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:The Medical Director for Family Medicine at MAHEC will work in collaborative partnership with the Chair, Clinical Operations Director, and Administrative Director in activities related to the delivery of medical care for all clinical sites of Family Medicine.Areas of primary responsibility include partnering to deliver an optimal environment for academic, Quality Improvement (QI), and clinic operations; ensuring accountability for provider productivity while also maintaining a positive provider experience; promoting an active and engaged education environment for residents, medical students, and other learners; collaborating with the Clinical Operations Director and RN Clinical Managers to promote a high standard of patient care; and communicating effectively with all clinic leaders to deliver quality care throughout the department. - SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring and promoting productivity in clinical sites
  • Lab supervision
  • Xray/DEXA/retinal photo supervision
  • Clinic workflow development and modification
  • Electronic health record optimization
  • Quality improvement project management
  • Personnel management - adequate staffing
  • Patient satisfaction - experience
  • Near-miss/Incident report follow-up
  • Satellite practice support
  • Orientation of new residents
  • Committee participation such as infection control, QILT, Community Resources, etc. as needed.
  • Membership in Dept. FM Executive Committee.
  • Auditing review/education
  • Patient Complaints/case review
  • Department Liaison - Dental, Referral and HIM, Pharmacy, IM
  • Clinical and triage protocols
  • Medical Peer Review/Credentialing
  • Participate in teaching activities for residents and medical students at the Family Health Centers. -
  • Promote and participate in continuing education programs of the division.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical practice of family medicine.

Ensures that defined processes, quality standards, and best practices are adopted swiftly and updated regularly.EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION: - - - - Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of combined clinical, educational and administrative abilities and experience.
    • Must possess licensure to practice medicine in North Carolina.
    • Certification by the American Board of Family Medicine required.
    • Must be able to maintain an appointment in good standing to the medical staff of HCA Mission Health System.SCHEDULE:Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. - Typical clinical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the department); average faculty workweek is 52 hours, highly variable; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening, weekend, night call, and other activities, as requested by the team leader.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:Position reports to the Chair of MAHEC Department of Family Medicine.This position reports directly to the Chair, Department of Family Medicine - MAHEC. - Receives direction from the Program Director, Department of Family Medicine.Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, MAHEC has worked tirelessly to promote evidence-based practices across our entire organization.
