Job Description:
Summary: Who We Are Launched in March 2013, the ASPCA Behavioral
Rehabilitation Center is the first and only facility dedicated to
the study and rehabilitation of extremely fearful, under-socialized
dogs, such as those confiscated from puppy mills and hoarding
situations. In 2017, the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center
(BRC) relocated to a new permanent and expanded facility in
Weaverville, North Carolina. The mission of the BRC is to share
best practices, develop structured behavior modification programs
for other animal welfare organizations and assist with these
programs implementation. Our ultimate goal is to maximize
lifesaving impact through partnership and collaboration with
shelter partners across the country. What You'll Do Under the
direction of the Senior Director, Operations, t he Manager, Intake
and Animal Transport works with internal and external partners to
manage and carry-out all aspects of the Behavior Rehabilitation
Center's program acceptance process . In addition, this role will
be responsible for the coordination and facilitation of all
transports of dogs under the care of the Behavior Rehab Center.
This may include transport to/from off-site medical services,
placement partner shelters, new arrivals, etc. One of the most
critical functions of this role is to serve as part of a
harmonious, united team with shelter operations, shelter medicine,
and animal behavior experts. This united team is dedicated to
collaborating with each other to provide balanced, integrative care
and to ensure all work supports the behavioral health of the dogs
in treatment. When & Where Youll Work - This position reports to
the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center in Weaverville, NC - Daily
responsibilities include driving up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per
week - This position includes travel other locations, deploying to
the field or attending conferences up to 10% of the time -
Available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings,
weekends, and holidays. This role is currently set as Monday-
Friday but some flexibility will be needed. What Youll Get:
Compensation Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend
on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education,
training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity,
market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring
range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may
increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over
time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates
with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The
expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and
may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for this

benefits offerings . Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but
are not limited to: Functional Duties (70%) - Monitor all intake
inquiries in a timely manner and oversee the BRCs candidate
approval process, working closely with the Senior Director of
Behavior, the Senior Director of Operations and the Senior Director
of Medical to ensure that candidates meet all program inclusion
criteria. - Act as main point of contact with source shelters
throughout candidate approval, wait list period and scheduled
pick-up/arrival. - Schedule and coordinate physical intake of new
dogs arriving for behavioral rehabilitation. - Safely and humanely
transport dogs, some of which are medically and/or behaviorally
compromised, to and from ASPCA facilities, veterinary partners, and
partner shelters. - Coordinate all aspects of animal transport with
sending and receiving partners, including lining up alternate
drivers as needed - Train staff from other departments to assist
with transports, including training on professional appearance,
maintaining clean and safe vehicles, and safeguarding program
assets and animals - Support all aspects of animal
transportincluding, but not limited to:partner relations and
quality assurance, animal readiness, proper transport, fleet
oversight and maintenance, appropriate animal handling, transport
schedule, routes, emergency preparedness, etc. - Develop efficient
tools to track and verify all aspects of safe and humane transport
operations, fleet/vehicle maintenance and driver training and
retention - Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
across animal intake and transport programs - Participate in daily
cross-shelter rounds, sharing out incoming arrivals and outgoing
transports and collaborating with BRC colleagues to monitor
capacity and discuss incoming and outgoing transports. - Ensure
proper cleaning and sanitizing of all transport crates and supplies
between transports. - Collaborate with the veterinary team to
ensure appropriate veterinary documentation is completed for all
transports to ensure compliance with all state laws and
organizational policies.
