Job Description:
Join HCA Healthcare as a Nurse Extern in General Surgery, an
opportunity designed to give nursing students hands-on experience
and training in a real-world medical setting. Located within our
dynamic surgery centers, externs will work directly under the
supervision of experienced nurses and surgeons to assist in
procedures, patient care, and everyday clinical duties. This role
is crucial for those aspiring to work in surgical nursing, offering
a path to greater understanding and preparation for a future career
in healthcare. Assist in the setup and preparation of surgical
rooms. Help with the inventory of surgical tools and supplies.
Shadow and assist nurses and surgical staff during procedures.
Provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision. Learn
and apply sterile techniques and other safety protocols. Document
and maintain patient records accurately. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills. Ability to maintain a high level of
professionalism under pressure. Basic understanding of clinical
practices and procedures. Proficient in using medical software for
patient records. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision
Insurance Life Insurance 401k CPR certification required; BLS
certification preferred but not mandatory at entry.
