Job Description:
Norton Community Hospital (NCH) , a 129-bed facility, one of 21
facilities for Ballad Health , is seeking a qualified General
Surgeon to serve its patient population. The draw area serves a
population of 75,000 to 100,000 which includes southwestern
Virginia and southeastern Kentucky. There is a local 10-physician
primary care network to supply patient referrals. This expansive
service area of Southwest Virginia and Southeastern Kentucky holds
huge potential. Our goal is to find a general surgeon who shares
the same philosophy as us in being able to accommodate our patients
at home and not transfer them out of the area for their care.
General bread & butter surgery experience and advanced laparoscopic
skills are required. Minimally invasive skills a plus. The hospital
has expressed a large amount of flexibility to fit the needs of the
new physician. If board-eligible, board certification must be
completed within five years of completion of residency for all
candidates. It is the largest healthcare facility in the far
southwest Virginia region. NCH was the first AOA (American
Osteopathic Association) accredited teaching facility in the state
of Virginia, and hosts residents in Internal Medicine. The hospital
operates several primary care clinics throughout the region as well
as an OSHA certified pulmonary rehabilitation facility which
diagnoses and treats coal mine related pneumoconiosis and other
severe respiratory problems. Opportunity Details: Guaranteed Base

Allowance The facility recently invested $12 million surgery
project with four state-of-the-art operating rooms. A $16.5 million
dollar renovation project that included the ER, Cardio-pulmonary
services, radiology equipment, diagnostic technology, EPIC EMR and
a new Main and Emergency entrance was also recently completed. The
Norton/Wise/Powell Valley region area provides a lower cost of
living and stresses a higher quality of life. Outdoor recreation is
plentiful. Norton, and Wise County, are located in a beautiful part
of Southwest Virginia and is surrounded by plenty of outdoor and
leisure activities. It is a center of education, hosting the
University of Virginia at Wise as well as the Mountain Empire
