Provide nursing services to patients and families, in accordance with scope of practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Provides leadership to supervised personnel, which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients. Essential Responsibilities Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts nursing care processes indicated to adhere to legal, ethical, and clinical standards Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required Properly delegates to supervised personnel within their defined scope of practice Provides wound care within scope of practice and according to orders and/or policies Uses critical thinking skills to prioritize delivery of care based on patient needs, response, and progress Administers patient medications, IV solutions, and treatments accurately, safely, and timely, in accordance with hospital policies Documents in an accurate and timely manner, according to policy, procedure, and Practice Guidelines Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings; supports the development of other staff and formal learners Participates in Quality Improvement activities Other duties as assigned Organizational Expectations CORE VALUES RESPECT: We respect the individual dignity of all persons and demonstrate genuine care for the individual needs of patients, families, and other staff members. Qualifications License: Current license as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, or an associated compact state. Current BLS: Red Cross or American Heart Association. Experience: NONE Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing License: ACLS (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire if not already obtained Experience: 1-2 years of hospital experience Working Conditions Work requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, crawling, twisting, pushing, pulling and bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Intact (or corrected) visual acuity, hearing, smell and touch is required. Manual and finger dexterity is required. Must be able to speak and understand English with the ability to communicate effectively. Physical abilities testing may be required. Additional departmental requirements may be identified as defined by department manager. Use of personal protective equipment is required due to potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
