Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC
campus and has the option to work remotely up to two days a
week.
Western Carolina University is seeking a developer who will work
primarily with Oracle PL/SQL as well as other supporting
technologies to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot solutions that
serve the business needs of the university. This position will work
alongside other developers on the IT Applications team, and on
project teams with other staff and faculty. Projects may involve
activities such as data integration, process automation,
application development, or report writing.
The position is part of the IT Applications Services team, and is
responsible for application and database development and technology
services with a primary focus on the Ellucian Banner
environment.
Responsibilities include:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming and one
year of experience in business application consulting or
development; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited
institutions.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the following:
- Oracle (preference for Ellucian Banner)
- PL/SQL development
- Creating stored packages, triggers, and other database
objects
- Requirements analysis and application design
Position also requires the following communication, management, and
leadership skills:
- Leadership skills
- Verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to lead among a team of technical people as well as
functionals users
- Demonstrated initiative to resolve problems/requests
- Demonstrated ability to expand own skills
- Solid organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Banner 9 applications
- Experience with object-oriented development (preferably with
Banner 9 extension)
- Experience developing and delivering reports using enterprise
reporting solution (preferably Microsoft Reporting Services)
- Experience with enterprise job scheduling solutions (preferably
Automic formerly called AppWorx)
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Experience with shell scripting in Linux (Bash)
