The Network Administrator position is responsible for the planning,
implementation, integrity, and support of:
* Networking infrastructure including, but not limited to:
o Physical networking hardware, including uninterruptible power
supplies
o Core and segment routing and switching
o Local Area Networks (LANs)
o Wide Area Networks (WANs)
o Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
o Switched Ethernet, internal, and external circuit
connectivity
o Wireless Networks
o Security hardware and software
o System-to-system communication
o End user connectivity
o Telephony, voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and unified
communications (UC)
o Structured cabling management, including coordination of approved
vendors
* Entrance and point of demarcation
* Backbone and data centers

Network & Telecommunication Management Systems
The Network Administrator position is responsible for maintaining
all network and telecommunications management systems, including
inventory and audit controls.Network & Telecommunication
Security
The Network Administrator position is responsible for all matters
relating to network and telecommunication security including, but
not limited to:
* Access control lists
* Firewalls
* Intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems
* AuditingNetwork & Telecommunication Equipment & Workrooms
The Network Administrator position is responsible for the
inventory, maintenance, and upkeep of all network and
telecommunication workrooms. All associable on campus workrooms are
to be walked through and audited at least once weekly. An inventory
of all equipment including hardware type, date of purchase, serial
number, and asset number is to be maintained per workroom and/or
location of placement. All off campus and wide area network (WAN)
site workrooms are to be walked through and audited at least once
monthly. Records of all audits mentioned are to be maintained at
all times.QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are the minimum acceptable requirement
necessary to adequately perform in the Network Administrator
position, however an equivalent combination of experience,
education, and/or training may be acceptable, subject to any legal
and/or regulatory requirements:
* Education: Minimum of an Associate degree in Computer Science,
Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems,
Networking Technology, Telecommunications Technology, or a
relatable information technology field.
* Experience: Strong analytical and technical support experience
required. Must have strong communication and service skills,
including the ability to effectively communication with different
levels of management and/or administration, fellow departmental
personnel, and both internal and external customer. Must possess
knowledge of traditional networking and telecommunications theories
such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, network architecture, network
technology, network management, troubleshooting, the OSI model,
routing and switching, firewalls, wireless, sub-networking, voice
over Internet Protocol (VoIP), telephony, and unified
communications (UC).
* Certification: Candidates must actively hold, or be willing to
obtain within one year from the start of employment, at least one
network and/or telecommunication industry standard certification.
These include, but are not limited to, Cisco's CCENT, Cisco's CCNA,
and/or CompTIA's Network+.WORKING ENVIRONMENTOn Call
The Network Administrator position is responsible for
round-the-clock (including after hours, weekends, and holidays) on
call support in terms of network and/or telecom incidents deemed
worthy of escalation. This may manifest as the need to assist other
departmental resources with their on call support as deemed
necessary by management.Physical Requirements
The Network Administrator position sits and walks intermittently
throughout the day and will often be required to bend, reach stoop,
and lift equipment and/or supplies in excess of thirty (30) pounds
and must be able to work in a deadline oriented environment with
