Position Description

The payroll specialist will provide the entire East Fork team with accurate and timely payroll runs while demonstrating an understanding of payroll and accounting best practices, as well as state and federal regulations. The specialist will collaborate with management to build out efficient reporting and provide employees with an open forum to discuss payroll questions and concerns. The ideal candidate will be good with numbers, organized, have a high attention to detail and have the ability to exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

Manage biweekly payroll process that includes time and attendance processing, proofing, editing, processing and transmitting of all payroll wages, deductions, reimbursements, garnishments, and manual payments consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
Complete corresponding payroll and benefits accounting entries.
Complete biweekly 401k updates and contributions, as well as Workers Compensation premium uploads.
Payroll tax adjustment reviews and quarterly audits.
PTO balance administration and quarterly audits.
Payroll reporting at monthly, quarterly and year end intervals, as well as ad hoc, for Finance and Management.
Payroll records maintenance and up to date entry into payroll system.
Provide excellent customer service to employees: in the areas of compensation, taxes, benefits, and time/attendance.
Assist Culture and People with unemployment claims.
Create and maintain training protocol for employees and managers around Payroll/PTO.
Collaborate with benefits admin to ensure accuracy of benefit enrollment & rates.
Backup to Accounts Payables in case of short term absence.
Projects as determined by the Finance team.

Requirements

Proven experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
Experience processing unemployment claims
Trustworthy with sensitive information.
Payroll software experience (currently using ADP's Workforce Now)
Other software experience: MS Office, G Suite, Intuit, SAP
Excellent communication skills
Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
Must pass background & credit check

Measured Metrics and Review Schedule

Your first review will be 90 days after your start date, then a six-month check-in and a development review annually in Q1 for the duration of your employment. If the results of a review are unsatisfactory, more frequent reviews may be scheduled to monitor improvements. If assigned improvement goals are not reached, a warning schedule may be implemented including the possibility of termination. During each review, your performance and ability to achieve the following metrics will be evaluated.

Accuracy & timeliness of payroll as well as corresponding accounting entries.
Responses to time sensitive requests.
Attention to detail in payroll system data updates.
Functionality of reporting systems.
Effectiveness of communication between managers and employees.

Estimated Weekly Hours

40 hours, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm

Classification

This position is full time, exempt.

Pay Rate

East Fork shall pay you $54,000 annually.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a payroll specialist
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
Understanding of payroll and tax compliance
Payroll software experience
Other software experience: MS Office, G Suite, Intuit, SAP
Payroll certification & spanish speaking are not required but beneficial
Collaborates across cultural differences
Ability to respect and communicate across lines of cultural differences
Ability to address conflict by assuming positive intent and seeking to understand
Ability to embrace a mistake w/ out fault
A commitment to center the active process of self awareness
