Job Title: Library Page Purpose of the position: This position is responsible for performing basic library tasks, including processing and shelving incoming materials and assisting patrons. This position is considered temporary part-time and is scheduled for 12 hours weekly. Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High School Diploma/GED; or equivalent combination of education, experience. Must be 16 years of age. Essential Functions of the position: * Assist in maintaining the availability of library materials by shelving books and other materials, reading the shelves and organizing materials into their proper sequence. * Answer in-person inquiries, help customers locate needed materials and refer customers to other appropriate assistance. * Assist in setup and cleanup for library activities. * Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and library patrons. * Knowledge of library routine and procedures. * Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system and library shelving practices. * Ability to place materials in the correct location on shelves with minimal supervision. * Ability to follow established routines for emptying book drops and reshelving materials. * Skill in data entry into a computer and operating general office equipment.
