ITW Hartness is looking for a Summer 2022 Mechanical Engineering Intern. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will perform a variety of functions as it relates to the Mechanical Engineering Organization. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an office environment and performing hands on work.

This position will be based at our headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina.

The intern will be offered a list of potential projects and project mentors from across the Mechanical Engineering organization at the beginning of the summer and will down-select from that list based on business needs and their interests. - Typical project scope may include :
Obtaining mechanical engineering design and hands-on experience creating world-class secondary packaging equipment by understanding and assisting with the execution of a customer or R&D project
Optimizing internal test fixtures and designing tools or structures to aid in the manufacturing process
Gaining a greater understanding of mechanical engineering and machine-design challenges by partnering with senior engineering staff and operations personnel to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions
Becoming familiar with business process and product improvement skills and use those tools to innovate, reduce costs, optimize processes, and develop solutions for our customers

Qualifications
Actively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Mechanical skills: knowledge of mechanical and physical
Exposure to AutoCad and Solidworks
Innovation: ability to work alone and with others to develop new concepts and solve problems
Troubleshooting: have a methodical and logical mindset through process. Ability to perform root cause analysis.
Work ethic: willingness to put forth the effort required to get the job done, while upholding high ethical standards. Work well with others in a team environment.
