Job Description:

Our goal is to produce components that meet and/or exceed the customer's specifications while performing in a safe manner to meet standard productivity cost and delivery targets. We strive to recruit and retain team members who can safely and effectively support the Meritor Production System by performing all production activities to the Meritor Production System standards. Our CNC Machinists are responsible for the safe setup, operation, inspection, and basic maintenance of various machining work-centers in our carrier components department. In this position, you will be operating integrated production cells, auto gaging, and loading and unloading via robot and CNC equipment. Our CNC Machinists can perform changeovers, setups, recognize machining issues, and make machine and process adjustments as needed. Out CNC Machinists can also innovatively problem solve, support training, and identify improvement opportunities for our robots and machines. Detailed responsibilities include: Follows all health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and practices. Completes daily 5S, Hour to Hour information, standard shift start-up and shut down procedures, and Daily Operator Maintenance to maintain the area and equipment to Meritor standards. Performs tooling and machine setup, programming, offsets, and changeovers in a timely and satisfactory manner to meet production schedules. Monitors and sustains quality of work through prevention of product non-conformances, minimizing process interruptions due to product, process, and quality systems, and reacting to faults and alarms caused by CNC machines, robots, gaging systems, and process automation systems. Performs skilled CNC responsibilities to include but not limited to setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, conditional switches, calculating specification requirements, performance of math calculations, and proving part programs. Uses precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to determine adherence of product characteristics to prescribed specifications. Works with support and Engineering teams to identify and update standard work and optimize tool performance and machine cycle times. Trains and develops new and less experienced operators to perform responsibilities to standard work and production targets. Operates multiple machine centers/work centers simultaneously and adheres to production and quality standards. Technical knowledge, education, and qualification requirements include: 5 years of experience with CNC Machining required. Satisfactory score on internal CNC Training Modules. High School Diploma or equivalent required 2-year Technical Associate Degree preferred 1-year Machining Program Diploma preferred Excellent oral/written communication skills required, with the ability to work in a team environment. Experience using Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings. Must be able to apply mathematics skills including fractions, basic algebra, decimals, and metrics calculations. Must be able to use precision measuring instruments such as snap gages, height gages, calipers, and micrometers. Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, problem solving, and training team members. Ability to regularly lift and/or move 35 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
